The truth is, we can’t wait to tuck our sandals away at the back of the wardrobe and go back to wearing boots.
6 boot trends for autumn 2026
However much we love summer dressing, autumn layering is always what gives us the chance to experiment with our style. Boots are having their moment again, and this year we may well be seeing the most distinctive designs of recent years, as they move away from their minimalist aesthetic to reveal a creative side that makes them stand out.
The boots that have caught our eye
Among the boot trends for the Autumn/Winter 2026–27 season, we find the slouchy boots from the Noughties, which remind us of Sienna Miller’s boho style from that decade. In autumn 2026, however, they’ve been adapted to suit the style of the season and borrow a touch of today’s minimalist aesthetic.
Boots that fit the foot like a glove, crafted from fine leather that hugs the calf tightly, are another style we saw on the catwalks, including at Celine.
In contrast, Jonathan Anderson presented a range of buckled boots, which sit loosely around the ankle and add a touch of elegance to wide skirts and dresses.
Animal prints are always on-trend, but in autumn 2026, snake-skin is taking the lead and we’ll be seeing it on the hottest boots too. As for ultra-feminine knee-high boots? They’ll be brown in colour with a soft suede texture, making them even more irresistible.
